NewstrAid General Hardship Fund

If you are finding it difficult to make ends meet at the moment and you work or have worked in the sale or distribution of newspapers and magazines in the UK, then you could be eligible for a grant from the NewstrAid General Hardship Fund.

The fund offers grants of up to £250 per household to help bridge the gap between income and costs for anyone with a newstrade connection.

Eligibility:
All applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Live in the UK

  2. Work or have worked directly in newspaper or magazine retail, wholesale or distribution for a minimum of 2 years

  3. Have less than £6,000 in household savings

  4. Be in receipt one of the following state benefits:

  • Universal Credit
  • Employment & Support Allowance
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income Related Employment Support Allowance
  • Housing Benefit
  • Pension Credit

Just one application can be made per Household per year up to a maximum of £250. Additional funding may be available from other schemes where appropriate. Each application will be assessed individually, and awards made at the discretion of the Welfare Committee. Please note, applicants will be asked to complete an application form and submit evidence to support their application such as bank statements and letters confirming state benefits awarded.
